Exactly one year ago today, the staff at DeviantArt was sent home. Like many in the United States and around the world, we thought it'd be for a couple weeks or so. But here we still are. And to think I posted about all things I was missing only two months in. I've been keeping a fairly strict shelter-in-place. I have the privilege to do a lot of things from home or have things delivered, so I figure it's best to do what I can to keep the virus from spreading. Not everyone has had that option. Christmas 2019 is the last time I've seen anyone in my family (besides my husband). That's been hard. I've gone many months before, never a full year. Thankfully, my parents are vaccinated, and my brother and sister-in-law are both teachers who are due for their second doses soon. So perhaps soon I'll be able to safely visit, even though it'll likely be a while before I'm qualified for the vaccine. What do you hope to accomplish with your art? My art is my best form of expression, my super power, art helps me sort out my emotions and work out problems that are presented to me in my day to day. Or it's just a way for me to have fun and relax. I love being a freelance artist (I have been freelancing since 2003) because I never know what options are going to be presented to me and who is going to pop up in my inbox. I always want to keep creating and experiencing new challenges, and never stop creating new work that makes people feel and think. What are your favorite things to illustrate? Why? I love drawing all types of things, anything you need I can draw, I'm up for the challenge. I guess in terms of my favorite things to draw would be colorful, expressive characters!
